Frequently Asked Questions

If you have a query about how Poetry on a Plate works, perhaps your question (and answer) are here?

How do we find Poetry on a Plate?

We are located at the far back right of Kidman’s Camp.  From Reception go right (approx 200m), make your way straight through the centre of the park, past the pool & along the amenities block. At the end of the block turn left. Here you’ll see our wooden kitchen shed (painted mural on one wall), and a curved rendered fence with glowing fires.  Hint – by far the best thing to do is follow your nose! The aroma’s from the kitchen will bring you to us without a doubt.

I’m not staying at Kidman’s Camp, can I still come?

If you are staying elsewhere nearby you are more than welcome to join us. Easiest directions are head to North Bourke (on the other side of the Darling River than the Bourke township). At North Bourke turn right & head towards Barringun & Cunamulla on the Mitchell Highway. Kidman’s Camp is about 1.2 Kms on your right hand side – keep an eye out for caravans as there is no big sign post & it is quite dark….once you’re there, follow instruction 1.

What time should we get there?

We prefer people to arrive after 6pm. Most people start to wander down at this time with their chairs between 6 and 6:15pm. Andrew assisted people in where to sit & how to get settled and we start selling tickets at 6.15pm.  We start the show promptly at 6:30pm.

If we don’t want to eat, can we just come for the show?

We don’t have a ‘split ticket’ option for Poetry on a Plate – we don’t insist you eat with us, and we do think the 2hr show is worth $25 anyway…we can pack your meal up for the next day’s lunch if that helps, or just supply dessert & hot drink…..however, if you are planning on joining us you will need a ticket.

Can I pay by credit card?

We don’t currently have credit card (or keycard) facilities & we dont book the cost of the show back to Kidman’s Camp. So you will need to bring enough cash for your tickets (and perhaps a little extra for the purchase of merchadise)

If I have allergies how can I find out what is in the meal?

All our food is Gluten Free (GF)  but if you have any special dietary requirements please check out our recipes.

What if we can’t make it on the scheduled nights, can we still see the show?

If you have a group of 30 or more we are happy to organise a special booking, just give us a ring. If you aren’t planning to be in Bourke on either a Tuesday, Thursday or Sunday night – you might have to rearrange your itinerary & stay for a few more days. There’s plenty to see in Bourke!
